Slashdot | Early Testers Say Vista RC1 Not Ready
I uninstalled the Vista Beta earlier this week because it just ain't there yet. It's pretty, I like where they're headed, but all the damn fading and pop-ins ("Did you really mean to ask the application to initiate the thing you just asked it to?") and the networking slush made me decide to check back in a few ye-er I mean months. Besides, I need that partition for Ubuntu.
Now, Ubuntu I dig quite a bit - it's a fancypants kinda Linux, one that appeals to my swishy design sensibilties. And it found my wireless card. While Vista seems like a weird back-assward Gnome or KDE knock-off (wearing OS X knickers), Ubuntu seems like what Vista really wants to be - slick and lean and cooperative.
