The Ron Paul you thought you knew

I was listening to WREK the other night, and as it happened two young black men were exhorting the listeners to find out more about Ron Paul. If you're truly interested in things like social justice, freedom, and ending the warn, then Paul's your man, they said. Get past Republican and Democrat and get to the truth, they suggested. I wondered, have these guys read the same stuff I have? 

Back when Paul first started making noise, I did some Googling and came up with some pretty weird stuff, nativist Libertarian leaning towards Christian Identity movement -type weird. Now, the New Republic is airing a lot of that dirty laundry.
